Institute’s Programs Description and Application Guideline

Programs for University-level and Faculty members:

Program Title: U.S. Foreign Policy

Program Title: Contemporary American Literature

Program Title: Religious Pluralism in the United States

Program Title: The American Civilization

Host Institution: New York University

Program Title: American Politics and Political Thought

Program Title: Journalism and Media

Host Institution: University of Florida, Gainesville

The institute programs are intensive post-graduate level academic programs with integrated study tours whose purpose is to provide foreign university faculty ad other scholars the opportunity to deepen their understanding of American society, culture and institutions.  The ultimate goal is to strengthen curricula and to improve the quality of teaching about the United States in academic institutions abroad.

Programs for Secondary School Educators members:

Program Title: Study of the United States Institute for Secondary Educators (two institutes) to be held at different institutions.

The institute’s programs are an opportunity for secondary school teachers, teacher trainers, curriculum developers, textbook writers, and other educational professionals to attend a six-week post-graduate seminar in the United States.  

All of the institute programs will be held this summer at different U.S. universities over the course of six weeks beginning in mid June 2008.  The exact dates of each program is yet to be determined.  More information will also be available in the following site, http://exchanges.state.gov/education/amstudy.  

All of the institute programs require excellent proficiency in English and outstanding qualifications, as these programs are extremely competitive.  Applicants should be mid-career, between the ages of 25-50.  Applicants must have Palestinian residency identification and individuals holding permanent residence status in the United States (including U.S. citizens and green card holders) are not eligible.
