Consul General Statements 2010
Eid al-Fitr 2010 Greetings
My family and I would like to extend our warm personal greetings to the Palestinian people as Muslims in the United States and all around the world celebrate Eid al-Fitr and mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Ramadan is a time of self-reflection that reminds us that the values of Islam – charity, community, cooperation, compassion – are values which Americans and Palestinians alike, hold dear.
On this festive occasion, Muslims remember those less fortunate, including those impacted by poverty, hunger, conflict, and disease. Sharing in the spirit of Ramadan, the U.S. Consulate General has been honored to work with Palestinian partners in the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem to host Ramadan cultural activities for families and young people throughout the month.
As Ramadan draws to a close, let us hold on to this spirit of friendship and community throughout the year to achieve our common goals, to help bring lasting peace to Palestinians and Israelis, and to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state living side by side in peace and security with Israel.
I offer you my best wishes at Eid al-Fitr and always. Kul a’am wa antum b-khayr.
