Promoting Eco-Friendly Practices in Janin
Janin students were surprised to learn how easy it is to recycle paper during a workshop conducted by Consulate staff on June 26. Consulate staff emphasized to the 32 students that caring for the environment requires a permanent commitment to ecologically-friendly practices. The workshop took place at the Community Center in Janin, which is run by the U.S. government supported Relief International-Schools Online (RISOL). Using simple tools available in the home, each student proudly displayed a hand-made sheet of recycled paper at the end of the workshop. While the papers were drying, the RISOL students made a presentation about different community-based activities that they have participated in such as providing remedial tutoring and encouraging school drop-outs to return to school.
