Bethlehem Orphanage Thanksgiving Donation

Consulate Families Conduct Thanksgiving Fundraising Drive for Holiday Donation to Bethlehem Orphanage

In honor of this week’s Thanksgiving celebration and recognizing the American tradition of charitable giving during the holidays, family members and staff of the U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem will deliver more than 270 cans of formula and milk to the Holy Family orphanage in Bethlehem Tuesday morning.

For the past two weeks, members of the U.S. Consulate community have conducted a fundraising drive to raise money to cover the cost of infant formula and milk for the orphanage’s more than 120 children during the month of December.  Through sizeable personal donations from Consulate employees and family members, the drive raised more than 15,000 NIS.  The Bravo  Supermarket at the Plaza Mall in Ramallah provided a generous discount on the cost of the formula and milk, enabling the consulate to purchase additional cans with the fundraising proceeds.

This most recent fundraising effort follows last spring’s Silent Auction at the Legacy Hotel in Jerusalem, at which the U.S. Consulate community raised more than 16,500 NIS to benefit the Holy Family orphanage, and continues a relationship between the Holy Family Orphanage and families of the U.S. Consulate that goes back several years.
