Passports
To facilitate access to the Consular Section, applicants for any service, including American citizens, are requested to carry only those items that are absolutely necessary. No weapons are permitted at any time. Electronic items must be left at the reception desk, and this is a time-consuming process that will delay your entry. Metallic items will cause delays during screening, and all bags must be x-rayed.
Please Note: New Passport Fees and Forms! For more information visit the State Department's Website (Applications and Forms).

U.S. Consulate General Jerusalem
American Citizens Services
The Consulate General has implemented an appointment system for American citizen services. This will ensure that an officer is always available to assist our clients and that clients receive services as promptly as possible. Beginning August 6, clients applying for Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBAs), passports and notaries will be required to book on appointment on our website before coming to the consulate for services. Those without appointments will not be admitted, except on an emergency basis. Please read the following information regarding passport applications and follow the link to make an appointment.
All passport applicants under the age of 26 must appear at the Consulate.
If you are an American citizen but have never had a U.S. passport, you must come to the Consulate in person to submit a passport application. Along with your application form, you must submit evidence of your U.S. citizenship and your identity. To prove citizenship, you should bring an original U.S. birth certificate, Consular Report of Birth Abroad, or Certificate of Naturalization. To prove your identity, you should bring a U.S. or foreign driver’s license or a foreign passport or identity card.
Passport requirements for children under 16 have changed. Please review these carefully. If your child was born overseas, you must register his or her birth before a passport can be issued. However, you can apply for a Report of Birth Abroad and a U.S. passport at the same time.
The following is required for renewing your U.S. passport:
AN APPLICATION FORM
If you are a first-time applicant, replacing a lost, stolen, or mutilated passport, or renewing an expired passport that was issued more than 15 years ago, you must submit Form DS-11. You must apply in person.
2 PHOTOGRAPHS
You must submit 2 recent photographs, taken within the last 6 months. Photos should be two by two inches, front view, on a white background.
PASSPORT FEE
Adults applying for a first time passport, replacing a lost, stolen, or mutilated passport, or renewing a passport issued more than 15 years ago must pay $100 US Dollars.
Children under 16 years of age applying for first time passports must pay $85 US Dollars.
You may also pay in Israeli shekels. Payment can be made in cash or credit card only. No personal checks accepted.
The current exchange rate is $1.00 U.S.D = 3.8 NIS.
PASSPORT AND REPORT OF BIRTH RETURN: To receive your passport, you may either: 1) supply a registered, self-addressed, stamped envelope (for registered mail) or 2) complete an envelope upon arrival at the Consulate General for a courier service that will deliver your documents directly to your chosen address cash on delivery.
