Inauguration of New U.S. Consulate Space

On Tuesday June 6, Assistant Secretary of State David Welch joined Consul General Jake Walles in officially opening the consulate's new working space in the historic Lazarist Monastery. The new facility will be home to the the public diplomacy and management sections and the U.S. Security Coordinator team. In his remarks to the audience, which included representatives from the Jerusalem Municipality and other friends of the consulate, the Consul General said, "This building will change the way we do business and provide a beautiful, lasting platform for U.S. diplomacy in Jerusalem. We hope that this new facility will help us make progress in our most important objective, that of bringing peace to this city and this holy land. "
