Less Than 10 Year Validity
Renewing Limited or Damaged Passports
You are required to renew your passport in person if any of the following conditions apply to you:
- Your previous U.S. passport was issued when you were under age 16
- Your previous U.S. passport was lost, stolen, or damaged
- Your previous U.S. passport was issued more than 15 years ago
- Your name has changed since your U.S. passport was issued and you are unable to legally document your name change
If you wish to replace a limited passport that was issued to you for emergency travel, please follow the instructions on this page. If you seek to renew a second passport with a two-year validity, please click here. If your passport was lost or stolen, please follow this guidance. To renew any other passport that meets the conditions above, please read the following requirements carefully. Failure to follow them could significantly delay your application or unnecessarily extend your visit to the Consular Section.
Please submit the following in person at the Consulate during your appointment:
- Your most recent U.S. passport. Please note that we will cancel this passport and return it to you. If your passport has been damaged or mutilated, we reserve the right to retain it.
- Properly completed Application for a U.S. Passport (Form DS-11) (PDF 89 KB).
- Statement explaining condition of passport. If your passport has been damaged or mutilated, you must submit a signed statement explaining what happened to your passport.
- One passport photograph that meets our strict photo specifications.
- Name change documentation (if applicable). If you have changed your name so that it no longer matches the name as it appears on your evidence of citizenship, you must provide documentation of the name change.
- Fee of $135. See our fee schedule for details on what forms of payment are accepted.
Delivery of issued documents
The delivery time for a passport is generally two to three weeks. You may either pick up your issued passport at our office or have it mailed to you. When you come to the Consular Section for your appointment, you can arrange courier delivery by one of our contracted courier services. The courier service will either deliver your documents directly to your chosen address or call you for pick-up at one of its distribution centers. You may also, if you wish, submit a self-addressed, stamped envelope with at least 16.70 NIS of postage for one passport, more if you would like us to return multiple passports to you.
