U.S. Consulate General Jerusalem Supports Cooperation Between Police and Youth Throughout the West Bank

Public Affairs Officer Frank Finver and Cultural and Educational Exchanges Officer Alistair Baskey attended the closing ceremony of the PD-funded “Junior Police Project” in the West Bank town of Salfeet. The three-month project, implemented by local youth NGO Partners for Sustainable Development in nine West Bank governorates, provided 240 youth the opportunity to learn from policemen about their daily work in law enforcement. The youth were also able to engage in traffic management in their local communities. Speaking to the audience of 500 youth and parents at the closing ceremony, Mr. Finver noted that the Palestinian police are composed of men and women who serve their people with pride and it is important that the younger generation respect the work of the law enforcement community. Several of the Junior Police also performed a skit about the importance of community law enforcement.
