U.S. Federal Judge Speaks to Palestinian Youth About U.S. Legal System
U.S. Federal Judge Marian Horn hosted a discussion about the United States legal system with Palestinian law students, lawyers and instructors in Ramallah in June. Judge Horn explained the U.S. legal system and its intricacies to students from Nablus, Jenin, Salfit, and Ramallah. Judge Horn shared her experiences as a woman entering the legal world at a time when there were only two women in her law school’s graduating class, and becoming a successful attorney and judge while managing her household and raising a family. The students ended the session with a better understanding of the Federal court system, the distinction between Federal and state courts, and how the U.S. Constitution’s system of rights provides the framework for the administration of justice in the United States.
