Consulate General Jerusalem Expresses Support for PA Ministry of Women’s Affairs
Consulate General staff visited the new PA Minister of Women’s Affairs, Rabiha Thiab, to discuss the burgeoning relationship between the Consulate General and the Ministry on July 9, 2009. Minister Thiab, who was appointed in early June, shared her plans for the Ministry, including a campaign for legislation for harsher sentences in honor killings, legislations related to polygamy, and advocating for the inheritance rights of women. The Minister also expressed her desire for support from the Consulate General to help train women for greater participation in politics, legislation, and civil society. The Minister was assured of the Consulate’s commitment to increased programming with the Ministry.
