U.S. Consulate General Jerusalem Encourages Young Camp-Goers in Hebron

The U.S. Consulate General Jerusalem visited the U.S. Government funded Camp Discovery outside the West Bank city of Hebron where 90 young Palestinians are participating in science, language, art and sports activities revolving around the theme of individual discovery. Acting Public Affairs Officer Donna Woolf, Cultural Affairs Officer Cynthia Harvey, and Cultural Affairs Specialist May Barghouthi, spoke to the students about their participation in the camp and observed their activities. Local education officials discussed the positive impact of the experience on kids for whom the camps provide an outlet during the summer. Camp Discovery Hebron one of five Camp Discovery Camps – including Ramallah, Nablus, Jenin and Gaza City - made possible with special funding from U.S. Government. There are more than 450 Palestinians (ages 8-14) participating in Camp Discovery, all of them from refugee camps and disadvantaged communities in the West Bank and Gaza.
