U.S. Consulate General Jerusalem Hosts Palestinian Youth from West Bank Refugee Camps at Science and Math Exhibit

The U.S. Consulate General Jerusalem sponsored a visit by 350 Palestinian student participants from the U.S. Government funded Camp Discovery to Al-Quds University’s science exhibit as an opportunity to exercise the maxim “learning by doing.” Accompanied by 20 Camp Discovery counselors and 15 YES exchange alumni volunteers, the students observed work connected to mini-experiments which they had themselves conducted throughout their Camp Discovery program. For many of the students, this was their first visit outside of a refugee camp; many had never set foot in a university. The Camp Discovery Coordinator noted that the participants were thrilled to be together on a trip with students from many different areas in the West Bank.
