Camp Discovery Ramallah Show-off Talents in a Series of Musical Performances and Plays

U.S. Consulate Staff visited the final exhibition day for the USG-funded Camp Discovery at Al Ama’ari refugee camp in Ramallah. Ninety Palestinian boys and girls invited an audience of 150 of their friends and family members to attend this special event, where they performed songs, dances, and plays in English. Showing a remarkable development in their English language and drama skills after just two weeks of participation in Camp Discovery, the students delivered their lines with great flair and enthusiasm. Cultural Affairs Officer Cynthia Harvey addressed the audience, thanking them for their support and congratulating participants for their accomplishments. Following the performance, participants hosted an exhibition of their artwork and scientific experiments, some giving “mini lectures” in English which explained their discoveries during the camp. Camp Discovery Ramallah is part of a collective of five Camp Discovery Camps – including Jenin, Nablus, Hebron and Gaza City - made possible with special funding from State Department. There are more than 450 Palestinians (ages 8-14) participating in Camp Discovery, all of them from refugee camps and disadvantaged communities in the West Bank and Gaza.
