U.S. Consulate Supports Groundbreaking US-Palestinian Educational Partnership
Consul General Daniel Rubinstein, USAID Mission Director Howard Sumka, and Public Affairs Officer Frank Finver attended an opening ceremony and Iftar dinner at Al-Quds University in Abu Dies to launch a new partnership between Al-Quds University and Bard College. The two higher education institutions are launching joint-degree programs at the BA and MA levels. Consul General Rubinstein remarked on the significance of this partnership, saying “I am pleased that a strong and prestigious US educational institution like Bard has decided to join in this endeavor. I hope it serves as an example to others who are considering partnerships with Palestinian institutions.” The joint program will include a BA-level Honors College for Liberal Arts and Sciences, a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT), and a Model School. U.S. Consulate General Jerusalem will award a $50,000-grant to establish ten one-year scholarships for the undergraduate program for students who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.
