Celebrating Ramadan with Theater, Music, and Fun
Consulate General Jerusalem partnered with the Bethlehem-based NGO Inad Theater to organize “Ramadan Brings Us Together,” a series of outreach activities that included presentations on important community issues such as civic responsibility and justice. As a part of this series and also as part of its ongoing Ramadan outreach program, U.S. Consulate General Jerusalem and INAD Theater organized two events for disadvantaged communities in the Bethlehem area on September 17 and 18, 2009. The audience included 150 children and women from Mehwar Women’s Shelter and New Life, an institute for special-needs children. They enjoyed theater, music and games presented by the INAD theater troupe. Addressing guests, Cultural Affairs Officer Cynthia Harvey wished the audience and participants a Ramadan Kareem, and spoke about the importance of mutual respect and acceptance.
