American Corner Jericho Provides Lessons in Loyalty and Friendship through Books & Films

The American Corner (AC) in Jericho conducted one of its many regular reading discussion groups, with students selecting the Scholastic title “Magic School Bus: Gets Ants in Its Pants.” AC Director Mai Hilal and her staff encouraged the 11 participating students to reflect on what they read in their discussion session. The Magic School Bus book told the story of an ant living in a colony, and the constant and persistent work that members of the colony do all summer in order to prepare for the winter season. As part of their reading activity, students were then asked to draw their impressions and feelings about the story of the ants and their work ethic. AC Jericho screened the American film, Gladiator, as the latest addition to its monthly movie club. The film was shown to approximately 22 high school students.
