Consulate Staff Continue Dialogue with Palestinian Youth about President Obama’s Commitment to a Better Future for all Palestinians

Transcript of the Webchat (PDF/130kb)

Consulate staff hosted a webchat on January 27 with dozens of students from across the West Bank to discuss President Obama’s policy of active engagement with the Middle East. The students, gathered at community centers maintained by the U.S. Government funded Relief International-Schools Online (RISOL), bombarded staff with questions about the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, assistance to Gaza and other U.S. policy issues. Consulate staff emphasized President Obama’s commitment to a lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinians and highlighted the significance of Senator George Mitchell’s immediate appointment as Special Envoy for Middle East Peace. A similar webchat was hosted by the Consulate with West Bank university students on Inauguration Day.
