Poetry Month 2009
April is National Poetry Month in the United States, a time when communities across the country celebrate poetry. In New York, for example, restaurants place poems inside diners’ menus, while in Chicago and San Fransisco poems decorate buses and subway trains. The U.S. Consulate General would like to invite you to join in the celebration, too.
We are launching an on-line poetry competition in recognition of the universality of the art-form. We have decided to marry the beauty of poetry with our second theme of the month – the environment. We, therefore, invite you to compose poems about nature, ecology, and the environment. We call it our "Eco-Poetry" Challenge and hope that you will send us an entry. Poems are due on
April 30!
