U.S. Consulate General Jerusalem and YEP Provide Networking Opportunities to Nablus High School Students
January 14, 2010
Jerusalem: Two hundred high-school students from the Nablus Governorate participated in a "Career Day" job-information event organized by Young Entrepreneurs Palestine (YEP) with the support of the U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem. The students, from local public and private high schools in the Nablus district, met with professionals from the business, law, banking, engineering, media, art and government-service sectors, to discuss how academic performance, internships, and work experience can shape the direction of future career goals. Students sought advice and guidance on selecting courses and colleges and universities, how to develop job-specific skills, how to write a resume/CV, and how to manage the demands of family and work responsibilities. The professional representatives enjoyed serving as advisors and role models as they met the next generation of Palestinian professionals.
Speaking on behalf of the U.S. Consulate General, Cultural Affairs Assistant Dana Rassas remarked, "The U.S. Consulate is proud to partner with YEP, an organization dedicated to improving employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for Palestinian youth, and we remain committed to supporting programs like YEP’s Career Day." Speaking on behalf of YEP, Arwa Abdel Rahman thanked the Consulate for its continued support of programs that promote employment and economic opportunities.
The Nablus Career Day was held at Al-Qasr Hall in Nablus. This is the fourth Career Day fair sponsored by the U.S. Consulate General. The Consulate will also sponsor YEP’s first internship program, which will be launched this spring.
