Debut of New Visa Appointment System Postponed
Jerusalem
02/01/2006
The U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem is postponing the scheduled February 1 introduction of the U.S. Visa Information Web Service for Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza to address unforeseen technical issues. A new release date has not yet been set, but Consulate General expects that the new service will be launched later in February. An announcement will be issued prior to the starting date, including a special website address for setting visa appointments.
The new U.S. Visa Information Web Service will provide timely and accurate information to the public regarding how to apply for a nonimmigrant or immigrant visa to enter the United States and how to schedule an appointment for a nonimmigrant visa interview. Applicants will no longer be required to schedule nonimmigrant visa appointments through travel agencies, but will have the option to schedule appointments themselves using this service. Immigrant visa appointments will continue to be scheduled through the Consulate General.
This service will be available from within Jerusalem, the West Bank, Gaza, as well as from the United States or anyplace in the world an applicant has a computer with Internet service. The website will provide information in four languages: Hebrew, Arabic, Russian, and English. The service will be available to the public 24 hours a day.
