Consul General Offers Condolences to Families of Victims of Umm al-Nasr Sewage Reservoir Collapse and Confirms U.S. Government Assistance to Clean-Up Effort

For Immediate Release

In a meeting with Palestinian journalists on March 27, American Consul General Jacob Walles offered his condolences to the families of those killed or injured as a result of the collapse of the sewage reservoir near the village of Umm al-Nasr.  Walles described the incident as a tragedy and said the U.S. government is participating in international planning to provide relief and assistance to the communities affected by the sewage flood. 

The U.S. Agency for International Development will provide cooking gas, gas stoves, gas lights, and clothes sufficient for 250 families. It is also working to coordinate volunteer clean-up efforts.
