American Corner Jericho Hosts a Cultural Quiz Competition in Conjunction with PD Jerusalem’s Ramadan Activities
The American Corner in Jericho organized an American-themed quiz competition involving four schools from the Jericho municipality (public and private). Students answered questions on Palestinian and American history, culture, government, and geography. Each member from the winning team of the quiz competition, the Abu Baker Al-Sidiq Public School, received a multi-purpose USB drive, and the school received a collection of books and reading materials for their library. Members from the other three teams (Teresanta, Rahibat, and Jericho Girls Secondary) received a copy of the President Obama’s book, Dreams of My Father, in an Arabic translation. The Mayor of Jericho, Abu Hussein (an IVLP alumnus) was also in attendance, and provided words of encouragement to the students. The representative of the U.S. Consulate made a brief statement to the young students, which emphasized President Obama’s Ramadan message of friendship and cooperation.
