U.S. Consulate Community Makes Donation to Bethlehem’s Holy Family Orphanage
November 24, 2009
Jerusalem: As Americans celebrate the U.S. holiday of Thanksgiving this week, staff and family members of the U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem honored the tradition of charitable giving during the holidays by donating formula and milk to the Holy Family Orphanage in Bethlehem.
For the past two weeks, members of the Consulate community raised funds to cover the cost of infant formula and milk for the orphanage’s more than 120 children during the month of December. Through sizeable personal donations from Consulate employees and family members, the campaign raised over 8500 NIS. The Bravo Supermarket at the Plaza Mall in Ramallah provided a generous discount on the cost of the formula and milk; enabling members of the Consulate community to purchase a total of 48 cans of Nido powdered milk supplement & 180 cans of Similac formula with the fundraising proceeds.
Today's donation continues a relationship between the Holy Family Orphanage and families of the U.S. Consulate that goes back several years.
