The U.S. Consulate celebrated Ramadan with Iftars, storytelling, musical performances, quiz nights, lectures, and other community activities. See below for more information about each of these special events.

October 13: American Corner in Jericho Hosts “Cinderella”
U.S. Consulate General Jerusalem and the American Corner at the Jericho Library sponsored on October 13, a play for children at the municipal theater of Jericho City. A big audience of children and parents crowded the theater to enjoy the musical comedy performed in celebration of Ramadan. (more)

October 12: Consul General Hosts Iftar in Ramallah
The Consulate General in Jerusalem held an Iftar at the prestigious Ramallah Hotel of the Grand Park. Around 60 prominent Palestinian figures attended.(more)

October 11: Iftar and Storytelling for Shoufat Camp Children
Consulate General Jerusalem sponsored a special Ramadan evening with 200 children and their families at the Shoufat Refugee Camp and Women’s Center in East Jerusalem. The children enjoyed skits, face-painting, and story-telling. It was a nice evening for both the children and the Consulate Staff. (more)

October 6,10,12: U.S. Consulate Jerusalem Hosts Ramadan Quiz Nights
The U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem, in cooperation with a local youth oriented Palestinian NGO, Pal Vision, hosted three Ramadan Quiz Nights at the Jerusalem Hotel. The hotel was filled to capacity each night, musicians and comedians performed, and prizes were awarded. (more)

October 5: Ramadan Night at the American Corner in Jericho
The American Corner in Jericho hosted a Ramadan cultural exchange in which Palestinians who had lived in other nations talked about Ramadan customs around the world. (more)

October 5: YES Alumni Address ACCESS and High School Students in Ramallah
Palestinian students who have studied in America under the Youth Exchange and Study Program (YES) met with students who are currently enrolled in the English Access Microscholarship Program (ACCESS) and with high school students and faculty in Ramallah. The YES alumni talked about their year-long experience in the U.S., with a particular focus on experiencing Ramadan in the U.S. (more)

October 4: Religious Tolerance Dialogue between Prominent Palestinian and American Muslims
The U.S. Consulate in Jerusalem hosted a dialogue about Islam in America with Ahmed Younis, Director of the Washington-based Muslim Public Affairs Council, and a Palestinian audience of well-respected Islamic scholars, preachers, imams, journalists, and university students. (more)

October 3: Ramadan Storytelling and Music for Children by Al-Sanabel Theater
The Consulate hosted a night of storytelling and music for children at the Ajyal Center in Shoufat, Jerusalem. The Al-Sanabel Theater group played music, sang, danced, and performed skits with active participation from an audience of about 150 people. (more)

September 27: Concert by Al Kamandjati at the Palestinian National Theater
The Consulate hosted a free public concert featuring Palestinian musicians from the Al Kamandjati Association and American contra bassist Richard "Dobbs" Hartshorne. (more)
