U.S. Secretary Rice in Ramallah for Talks on Middle East
August 2, 2007 On August 2, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Prime Minister Salam Fayyad and the Palestinian Authority Cabinet ministers to discuss current issues in the Middle East. Bringing a message of the American people’s commitment to assisting the Palestinian people, Secretary Rice put words into action by signing a framework agreement for $80 million in U.S. assistance to strengthen and reform the Palestinian security sector.
