TechWomen Program (Deadline- February 15, 2012)
FY 2012 TechWomen Program
Deadline- February 15, 2012
The US Consulate General in Jerusalem and Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) is pleased to announce the TechWomen program for 2012, a professional exchange program to support women from the Middle East and North Africa engaged in technology. TechWomen is a high profile program for ECA, and Secretary Clinton herself not only launched the program, but also met with the first group of participants at the Department of State last summer.
TechWomen is an initiative of the Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs to encourage and support women engaged in technology in the Middle East and North Africa. The program champions two distinct but key themes of President Obama’s June 2009 speech in Cairo by supporting development in the field of technology and enabling women to reach their full potential in the technology industry. During the five-week mentoring program beginning in September 2012, the TechWomen Mentees will work on specific projects with their American Mentors at technology and innovation companies in the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley, an experience that will include several workshops designed to build their understanding of technology’s integral relationship with the professional world, to increase their understanding of how Americans encourage development, and to provide networking opportunities. The program will conclude with participation in the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing in Baltimore, and a two-day program in Washington, DC.
