PD Jerusalem celebrates Thanksgiving with English Language students in Jerusalem

Two American officers spent the weekend baking traditional pumpkin pies to share with Palestinian youth in the 9th grade English language class at the Frere School in the Old City of Jerusalem. The 32 students spoke with the CAO and PDO about the history and traditions of Thanksgiving, including the diverse ways in which Americans from all backgrounds celebrate this special holiday. The students asked intriguing questions about the origin of the holiday, the history and status of Native Americans in U.S. society, and the different types of food prepared by different groups in America. Each student got to sample a piece of pumpkin pie, a rare dish for Palestinians.
