U.S. Visa Information Web Service

Jerusalem
1/04/2006

In 2006, the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv and the Consulate General in Jerusalem will jointly introduce their new official U.S. Visa Information Web Service for Israel, West Bank, and Gaza to better meet the needs of visa applicants from these three areas. This service will provide timely and accurate information to the public regarding how to apply for a visa to enter the United States of America and how to schedule an appointment for a nonimmigrant visa interview. Applicants will be required to schedule all appointments for nonimmigrant visa interviews on this new Internet website.

This service will be available to applicants anyplace in the world who have access to the Internet. The website will provide information in four languages: Hebrew, Arabic, Russian, and English. The service will be available to the public 24 hours a day. Applicants will no longer be required to schedule nonimmigrant visa appointments through travel agencies but will have the option to schedule appointments themselves. Applicants will complete their visa application forms online.

The online visa information and appointment service will require a payment of 12 US dollars. Applicants will be able to pay through the website using an international Visa or MasterCard. Alternatively, applicants will be able to purchase a Personal Identification Number (PIN) at Israeli Post Offices or Cairo-Amman Bank so they can access the site. The PIN will allow access to the site for information and for scheduling up to 5 appointments for immediate family members who reside in the same household. Emergency appointments must also be scheduled through this service.

The exact Internet address for the new service will be announced after February 1.

Immigrant visa appointments will continue to be scheduled through the Embassy and the Consulate General.
