The U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem is seeking an individual for the position of Translator in the USSC Office.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

Incumbent serves as translator/interpreter in both written and spoken word for the United States Security Coordinator Team (USSC).

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

  1. A Bachelor Degree in arts, science, communications, politics, or language is required.
  2. A minimum of two years experience in the field of translation and interpretation are required.
  3. Level IV (Fluency) in English and level V (Professional Translator/Interpreter) in Arabic are required.
  4. Must have the ability to deal effectively with highly technical and sophisticated terminology in which fine nuances of meaning may assume major importance
  5. Must have the ability to deal effectively with all staff levels of USG and PA concerning USSC matters.

SELECTION PROCESS:

When equally qualified, Eligible Family Members and U.S. Veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate address the required qualifications above in the application.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA
  1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
  2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
  3. EFMs who currently hold a FMA appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of that appointment.
  4. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
  5. Candidates are subject to testing for language, computer or other position related skills.
