Warden Message

February 12, 2007

Following the February 9, 2007, clashes on the Haram Al-Sharif/Temple Mount related to the continued excavation work taking place near the Dung Gate and the Western Wall, there is a continuing possibility of protests in and around Jerusalem's Old City. Due to the possibility of disturbances, we are advising all U.S. Government personnel to avoid the area around the Western Wall and Dung Gate. Access restrictions to the Haram Al-Sharif/Temple Mount and a heavy police presence within the Old City could also spark disturbances at entry points into the Old City and at checkpoints in the area. Heightened awareness should be practiced within and around the Old City and security checkpoints in the Jerusalem area during the coming weeks.
